After winning three Oscars, Daniel Day-Lewis is retiring.
His publicist Leslee Dart released the following statement:
Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.
Lewis’ last film will be the upcoming Phantom Thread, which has a December 25 release, and reunites the actor with his There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson. The film, from Annapurna Pictures and Focus Features is set in 1950s London and will see Day-Lewis playing a fashion designer who caters to high society.
