Former first lady Michelle Obama spoke to a large crowd in Orlando, Florida, for a Q&A session on Thursday and didn’t ignore the subject of running for president in 2020.
After Barack Obama left office, Democrats were ever so hopeful that his wife would entertain the idea of a presidential campaign for the next election.
Prepare to be disappointed. Here is what Michelle Obama has to say about running for office:
“It’s all well and good until you start running, and then the knives come out. Politics is tough, and it’s hard on a family… I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because, when you run for higher office, it’s not just you, it’s your whole family.
Plus, there’s just so much more we can do outside of the office, because we won’t have the burden of political baggage.”
However, she and Barack will still be involved in what happens to our country’s future. “Barack and I have been in public service our whole lives. Public service will always be in our blood.”
